Lazer Horse
Have been hitting Brighton hard recently, with three gigs on three consecutive weekends. Caught them at the middle one and it was really great. If you haven’t heard them yet I thoroughly recommend following Tim’s excellent blog, written for the band, and going to one of their shows. They sound like Eddie Veder but fun.
Our last ever gigs!
We are doing three more gigs in August and then splitting up. They are ——>
4th August at Flairz in Hastings with Depakine Chrono and P for Persia
5th August at the Cowley Club in Brighton with Depakine Chrono and someone else TBC
6th August at Scar Studios in London with Depakine Chrono, Shield Your Eyes and more!
Last chance to see us. We’ll be pretty out of practice so don’t expect fireworks or anything, also we’re taking requests as of now. Want to hear some old shit?
The Family Elan! Played a gig on Tuesday at the Cowley Club. Me and Blakes helped out putting on the gig with our friend Patrick, and it was a really fun night. They played a set of kind of noise-rock eastern european folk stuff which was real exciting and fun to watch. Their recorded output differs somewhat, more acoustic, but still great. Only heard the tracks on their myspace, all good.
mmmmm, this band is so warm. They’re called Cove, another great act coming out of that Tunbridge Wells/Unlabel thing that has brought many many good bands to the southeast. Been around for a while it seems but we caught them for the first time on Monday at the Green Door Store. Check out their latest LP here. If you’re in a rush track two is my pick. Once again, warmmmmmmm!
Phil who I was talking about yesterday also plays in another band, La Boite Diabolique, who have also released a pretty cool sounding tape on the same label, Phil’s own Coffee Beat Cassettes. It’s pretty cool, a similar mix of indie pop and post-hardcore. Check it here.
A while ago we played with a cool band in Nottingham called Sofa King, and gave them a little blog up. Just reconnected with guitarist/singer Phil Booth and he told me about this fun little tape they released a couple of months ago which you can hear here. If I was going to give a lazy two-band analogy I would say it sounds like Pavement taking the piss out of At The Drive In, but it doesn’t, it’s just good!
Bellends Credo by Dan Pedersen
Mmm nice… listen to the first track by Dan Pedersen from his free to download album. Robert Fripp and Brian Eno united in one body. Is this the guy that was playing bass for the Eyes for a while and helped record their new album? Either way, awesome tune!
Guys - this is the flyer for our last ever show!!! Really a truly truly massive privilege to be playing with the eyes and the chrono on this one.
Ace and legendary Brighton band I’m Being Good have kept up with the kids by setting up a sweet Bandcamp page. I’ve only just begun to scratch the surface of all the music on it, something like 8 albums. Dive in! Start with track four off Family Snaps, my that is a great song.
